About this hotel

This spacious Farm Stay in Dhura, open-plan studio comfortably accommodates up to four guests, making it an ideal getaway for those traveling with children and pets. Located at the quiet far end of our homestead away from the main entrance, it offers complete privacy and tranquility.

  • Ground Floor: Features an elegant queen-size wooden bed positioned to take in the views from a spacious bay window framing Nanda Devi and its neighboring peaks. This level also includes a kitchenette, a cozy dining area, a closet/dressing space, and a bathroom with a hot shower.

  • The Angethi (Traditional Fireplace): The signature element of the studio is a beautifully crafted stone fireplace, built by balancing one stone at a time. It serves as the heart of the space—a perfect spot to warm your hands, chat while food cooks over the wood, and make memories together.

  • Upper Level: The upstairs loft area features another queen-size bed beside a wide window, a study table, a dressing area, and an attached western toilet. This floor opens up to a large balcony with stunning Himalayan views, making it the ultimate spot for your morning cup of tea.

About the Homestead Our experiential retreat is set within a quaint sub-alpine Himalayan village in the Jalna Block of Almora. The property spans an acre of deciduous fruit orchards and evergreen pine and oak forests. Built by a group of nature lovers using locally available materials and artisans, the homestead is designed as a mindful escape from the drills of modern urban life, inspired by the Buddhist practice of maitrī (loving-kindness).

Our farm is a haven for wildlife. You might be visited by a family of barking deer, butterflies, porcupines, or monkeys during harvest season. Here, every day starts with birdsong and ends with their lullaby.

Guest Access & Amenities Guests have private access to both floors of the studio, its portico, and a small backyard.

  • Relaxation: Watch a glorious sunrise in hues of pink and crimson from the comfort of your bed. Read a novel on the balcony, enjoy an afternoon board game, or cook a small batch of barbecued delicacies in the evening under a star-studded sky.

  • Shared Spaces: Guests have shared access to the main kitchen-diner and the expansive orchard. Feel free to roam the property, take walks on the forest trails, and lose yourself against the backdrop of the snowcapped Himalayas.

Other Things to Note

  • Dining: Meals are served at our open kitchen-diner (Breakfast: ₹300; Lunch & Dinner: ₹550 each; Evening Snacks & Tea: ₹100 per person). We specialize in traditional Kumaoni cuisine. Please inform us of your preference for Jain/veg/non-veg meals or any allergies a day ahead of your trip. Room service for meals (except evening snacks/tea) is available for an additional charge.

  • Self-Catering: We can provide basic kitchen amenities (cooktop, utensils, basic ingredients) for ₹700/day. Preparing quick items like instant noodles or baby food in the main diner is free of charge, or our staff can cook it for you.

  • Nature & Wildlife: Our orchard encourages harmless co-existence with birds and insects. Please keep doors and windows locked when you are not in the rooms, and inform us immediately if an insect gets inside.

  • Terrain: The rough hilly terrain can be challenging for toddlers, the elderly, or guests with mobility/visual disabilities. Please consider this before reserving.

  • Weather & Clothing: Mountain weather changes quickly. The oak trees on the property provide deep shade, making it very chilly during winter and the rainy season. Warm clothing (gloves, caps, shawls, puffer jackets) is a must.

  • Location Access: The last 750m of the approach road is an unpaved country road. Driving this stretch should be avoided if it rains or snows; guests may have to walk this distance in such scenarios.

  • Driver Accommodation: We are currently unable to provide on-site accommodation for drivers. However, reasonable lodging is available in the nearby market (7km away).

  • Extras: Fireplace and room heaters are available, with usage charged separately.

  • Essentials: Being in a rural area, local shops are limited. Please carry any essential medicines or specific food items you cannot do without.

  • Conduct: We request our guests to be respectful of the local culture, wildlife, and natural environment to help us maintain the tranquility of the space for all travelers.
