Tree house in Dhura Built for those who wander in pursuit of meaning and adventure, this 250-square-foot wooden cottage literally hugs an Indian Oak tree. Perched on an elevated iron frame, the cabin offers seclusion, panoramic views, and fewer steps to navigate than other units on the estate.
Wake up to glorious sunrises painting the Panchachuli, Trishul, and Nanda Devi mountain ranges in strokes of pink and orange—all visible right from the comfort of your bed through a wide scenic window. Spend your evenings reading by the crackle of the iron fireplace in the cozy living area, or stargazing from the balcony to the hum of cicadas. The cabin is fully equipped for a comfortable stay, featuring a small kitchenette, a private portico, a western toilet, and a hot shower.
A Mindful Homestead The cabin is part of an experiential homestead situated in the quaint, sub-alpine Himalayan village of Merdhura. Built by a collective of nature lovers to offer an escape from urban life, the estate is rooted in the Buddhist practice of mettā (loving-kindness and compassion).
Constructed by local artisans using regional materials, the estate harmonizes perfectly with the serene forest atmosphere. The surrounding farm and orchard are frequently visited by wildlife, including a family of barking deer, porcupines, colorful butterflies, and occasional monkeys during harvest season. Here, every day begins with a chorus of birdsong and ends with their gentle lullaby.
Guest Access & Experiences
Private Cabin: Full, private access to the treehouse, including its scenic balcony and portico.
Shared Spaces: Access to the open-kitchen dining area to enjoy traditional meals and mingle.
Nature Trails: Guests are encouraged to roam the orchard and lose themselves in the surrounding forest trails, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Himalayas.
Dining Options
Meals: We serve traditional Kumaoni cuisine at our shared open-kitchen diner. (Breakfast: Rs. 300 | Lunch & Dinner: Rs. 550 each | Evening Snacks & Tea: Rs. 100 per person). Please inform us a day in advance regarding Jain, vegetarian, or non-vegetarian preferences, as well as any allergies.
Room Service: Available for an additional charge (except for evening snacks and tea, which can be brought to your room).
Self-Catering: We can provide basic kitchen amenities (cooktop, utensils, basic ingredients) for Rs. 700/day. However, preparing simple items like instant noodles or baby food at the shared diner is warmly welcomed and free of charge.
Environment & Wildlife
Co-existence: The estate is an orchard that encourages the harmless co-existence of birds, insects, and forest wildlife. Please keep doors and windows locked when not in the room, and inform staff immediately if an insect wanders inside.
Respectful Living: We ask guests to be mindful and respectful of the local culture, nature, and the tranquil environment.
Accessibility & Logistics
Terrain: The rough hilly terrain can be challenging for toddlers, the elderly, and individuals with mobility or visual disabilities. Please consider this before booking.
Weather Prep: Mountain weather changes rapidly. The oak-shaded property can get quite chilly, especially during rain or winter. Pack gloves, caps, shawls, and puffer jackets.
Approach Road: The final 750 meters to the property is an unpaved country road. For safety, driving this stretch should be avoided during rain or snow, and guests may need to walk the final distance.
Essentials: Being in a remote rural area, please bring any essential medicines or specific food items you cannot do without.
Heaters & Firewood: Fireplaces and room heaters are available; usage is charged separately.
Driver Accommodation: We currently cannot house drivers on-site, but reasonable accommodations are available at the nearby market (7km away).
