Rising proudly in the Sahyadri ranges, Torna Fort, also known as Prachandgad, is the highest hill fort in the Pune district and a favorite among trekking enthusiasts. True to its name—Prachand, meaning immense—the fort is known for its vast expanse, rugged trails, and breathtaking panoramic views. The trek begins from Velhe village, winding through lush green landscapes that come alive during the monsoon season. Mist-covered valleys, cascading waterfalls, and vibrant wildflowers transform the route into a spectacular natural escape.

Beyond its scenic beauty, Torna Fort holds immense historical significance. It was the first fort captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1646, when he was just sixteen years old, marking the beginning of the Maratha Empire’s rise.
