Sacred Sojourn Across Maharashtra & Madhya Pradesh
Embark on a spiritually fulfilling journey to the 5 revered Jyotirlingas, spread across two culturally rich states – Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. This divine circuit offers not just darshan of some of the most powerful jyotirlingas, but also a chance to explore the historical, mythological, and spiritual essence of India.
1. Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga (Maharashtra)
Tucked in the Sahyadri hills, Bhimashankar is surrounded by dense forests and scenic valleys. It is not only a Jyotirlinga but also a wildlife sanctuary. The temple, built in Nagara style, is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva defeated the demon Tripurasura.
2. Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga (Maharashtra)
Situated near the UNESCO-listed Ellora Caves, this temple is an architectural gem built in red basalt. Grishneshwar is closely associated with stories of deep devotion and divine intervention. It is the twelfth and last of the Jyotirlingas in the traditional list.
3. Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga (Maharashtra)
Located near Nashik, Trimbakeshwar is unique for its linga which represents the holy trinity – Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. It’s also the origin of the sacred River Godavari. The temple is a significant center for various religious rituals and the famous Kumbh Mela.
4. Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga (Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh)
One of the most spiritually powerful temples, Mahakaleshwar is the only Jyotirlinga where Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of a swayambhu (self-manifested) lingam. Attend the mesmerizing Bhasma Aarti early morning – a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
5. Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga (Madhya Pradesh)
Situated on the sacred island of Mandhata, shaped like the symbol “ॐ”, this temple lies on the banks of River Narmada. Surrounded by serene ghats and hills, Omkareshwar offers a peaceful yet powerful spiritual ambiance.
