Located close to the picturesque Kullu Valley, Patalsu Peak is one of the most popular short treks in Himachal Pradesh. Combining beautiful forest trails, thrilling summit climbs, and panoramic Himalayan views, the trek is perfect for fit beginners looking to experience a rewarding high-altitude adventure.
The trail begins from Rumsu, passing through the scenic Solang Valley before ascending towards Patalsu Peak. Along the way, trekkers walk through dense forests of pine, oak, and cedar, with chances of spotting Himalayan bird species such as the Khaleej pheasant and monal.
Though moderately challenging, the trek involves steep ascents, narrow ridges, and rugged terrain near the summit. However, the effort is rewarded with breathtaking 360-degree views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges. From the summit, trekkers can witness magnificent peaks like Friendship Peak, Shitidhar Peak, and the towering Manali mountain ranges stretching across the horizon.
The untouched beauty of the snow-covered Himalayas, combined with peaceful forests and open meadows, makes the Patalsu Peak Trek a perfect blend of adventure and natural serenity.
The ideal time to undertake the Patalsu Peak Trek is from April to May and again from September to October. During these months, the weather remains pleasant and the skies are generally clear, offering the best mountain views.
Summer temperatures usually range between 10 C to 25 C, making trekking conditions comfortable. It is advisable to avoid the monsoon period, especially August and early September, due to heavy rainfall and slippery trails.
For beginners, the best trekking season is from mid-September to late October, when the weather remains stable and the trails are ideal for summit climbs.
All the participants of this trek are to reach at Jagatsukh early in the morning. Breakfast will be scheduled here. Post breakfast all the participants will undergo the registration process. Lunch at 1 PM. Once the activity gets over, we will go for an acclimatization walk. Evening snacks at 5 PM. Post snacks orientation for the trek will be covered.
This will be the second trek on this trek. After an early breakfast, we will make our way to Solang Valley. The drive is around 30 kilometers and it can take around 2-3 hours depending on the traffic. During the peak season like April and May, it can even take up to 4-5 hours. The whole journey promises to make an individual forget their normal life in cities and get tuned to the beauty of this place. Once we reach Solang Valley, we will settle a bit, and then after lunch, we will have an acclimatization walk to Anjani Mahadev which will take around 2 hours. Once we shall return back to Solang Valley, you can roam around and embrace the beauty of this amazing place. During the evening, a few activities will be arranged in order to increase the interaction between the trekkers. Trekking is a team activity and in order to reach the summit, it is very important to climb together. You will certainly light up in the hues of the place, welcoming strangers to become a part of your life.
On the third day of this beautiful short trek, we begin our journey on foot from Solang Valley to the scenic meadow of Shagadugh. Located at an elevation of approximately 9700\ \text{ft}, Shagadugh is around 3–4 km from Solang and serves as a peaceful campsite surrounded by dense Himalayan forests. Trekkers are advised to carry sufficient water for the day’s journey. Although the distance is short, the trail includes a few steep uphill sections that gradually lead into the mountains. The route passes through beautiful forests filled with pine and oak trees, offering a calm and refreshing trekking experience amidst nature. As the climb progresses, the dense forest slowly opens into the vast meadow of Shagadugh — a serene grassland surrounded by towering mountains and untouched wilderness. The peaceful atmosphere and panoramic views make the campsite especially beautiful during sunset and early evening. Dinner will be served at night, followed by group activities and interactions around the campsite. Overnight stay will be arranged in tents amidst the tranquil surroundings of Shagadugh.
This will be the most thrilling day of the trek as we attempt the summit of Patalsu Peak. After an early breakfast at the Shagadugh campsite, we begin our steep ascent towards the peak. The climb is challenging at certain sections, but the breathtaking mountain views make every step worthwhile. From the summit, trekkers are rewarded with panoramic views of prominent Himalayan peaks including Shitidhar Peak, Friendship Peak, and the surrounding Manali mountain ranges. On clear days, the beautiful Beas Kund region can also be spotted from the top. The summit of Patalsu Peak offers stunning 360-degree views of snow-covered mountains, deep valleys, and endless Himalayan landscapes, making it one of the most rewarding viewpoints in the region. Trekkers can spend some time at the summit soaking in the scenery, relaxing, and capturing unforgettable photographs of the surrounding mountains. After enjoying the summit views, we descend back to the peaceful Shagadugh campsite for an overnight stay amidst the serene Himalayan wilderness.
This will be the last day of your trek where we will make our way back to Solang Valley. We will follow the route that we took while ascending. Descending 3 kilometers down, we will reach Solang. Roam around and feel the essence of this beautiful valley. From here, we will make our way back to Manali. You are certain to reach Manali by 5 pm in the evening. You can either stay back in Manali and enjoy the local sightseeing or return back to your own city.
This marks the end of your beautiful trek. Here the trip ends physically but not in your memories. You will surely cherish this awesome trip for a lifetime. You will feel changes in your perspective and you will feel more energized and adventurous. The mountains are huge and hence it will occupy a huge space in your heart forcing you to return back real soon.

Patalsu Trek climate stays cool for a large portion of the month. The temperature drops down to 0 degrees in the winter however the summers are very soothing with a temperature scope of 10 degrees to 18-degree celsius. The precipitation isn't a lot of high that makes the air moistness free and able for trekking.

The month of June is one of the best months to visit Talle Valley trek as the temperature ranges between 2.9 degrees Celsius to -5.7 degrees Celsius.

Patalsu Trek is a high altitude trek. You need to be fully prepared for the comfortable completion of the trek. All the essential kinds of stuff required for the trek such as Rucksack, 2 pairs of quick-dry T-shirts and trek pants, 2 pairs of socks, trekking shoes, fleece, sunscreen SPF 50+, towel, lip balm, headlamp/torch, water bottles of 1 liter, and personal medicines should be available with you. You will be mailed a complete checklist after you book the trek with us. Make sure that you have all these things before the start of the trek.
One thing for sure, you won't have to worry about the food on this trek. We can assure you that the food served on this trek will be one of the best that you might have encountered throughout your life. Generally, only vegetarian food is served on a trek because non-vegetarian food has a high amount of protein which makes it difficult to digest. We have a serving of 4 meals per day which includes breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, dinner. We don't compromise on the quality of the food. Hence, all you need to do is explore the beauty of the trek without worrying about the food.
Patalsu Trek is a 5-day trek and hence backpacks, raincoats and other types of equipment are necessary. Backpacks and shoes including other items will not be available for rent by us. These are the things you need to bring on your own. You can check our website to make sure that you know about all the things that you need to carry by yourself on this trek. It is advised to carry all those things for your own convenience. The only accessories that we will provide on rent for this trek are trek poles and ponchos. All the other necessary items or equipment are not available for rent by our side.
