Janjira and Padamdurg Fort Tour

Murud-Janjira Fort, an impregnable 16th-century island stronghold off the Konkan coast, stands as a testament to Maratha and Siddi engineering with its massive stone walls rising from the Arabian Sea. Padmadurg Fort, another nearby marvel, was built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to counter Janjira’s dominance, showcasing strategic brilliance amidst serene waters. Both forts, accessible only by boat, offer a captivating blend of history, architecture, and scenic beauty. Padmadurg Fort, constructed by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the 17th century, is a striking island fortress off the Konkan coast, designed to challenge the might of Janjira Fort. Surrounded by the Arabian Sea, its robust stone walls reflect Maratha military ingenuity. Accessible only by boat, Padmadurg captivates with its historical significance, scenic isolation, and architectural resilience, offering a glimpse into a storied past.

11:45 am: Pickup at Vashi (below main bridge near Vashi Plaza). Morning Arrival and Exploration Upon reaching Murud early in the morning, we kick things off with a hearty breakfast. Next, we head to the ferry point to catch a boat to Padmadurg Fort. After exploring its historic walls, we sail back to Murud Beach and make our way to the Janjira ferry point. A short boat ride takes us to the majestic Janjira Fort, where we wander through its storied past. Afternoon Relaxation and Return Back at Murud Beach, we enjoy a leisurely lunch before starting the journey back to Mumbai. Depending on traffic, we expect to arrive in the city by late evening, wrapping up a day filled with history, scenic boat rides, and good company.
