Step into the rich history of the Sahyadris with the Tringalwadi Fort Trek, an easy yet rewarding adventure near Igatpuri in Nashik district. Perched strategically along an ancient trade route connecting Konkan and Nashik, this historic fort once played an important role in regional surveillance and defense during the Maratha era.
Although much of the fort now stands in ruins, its rock-cut steps, impressive entrance carved from a single rock, and ancient structures still reflect its former grandeur. Dating back to the 10th century, the region is also associated with spiritual significance, with caves at the base of the fort believed to have been used by the first Jain Tirthankar, Adinathji, for meditation.
The trek offers breathtaking views of Tringalwadi Lake, surrounding valleys, and the famous Pandav Leni caves. Visitors can also explore the Bhavani Mata Temple and ancient water cisterns atop the fort. Combining history, spirituality, and scenic beauty, Tringalwadi Fort is the perfect getaway for trekkers, history enthusiasts, and nature lovers alike.
